Welcome

The EAPCCT looks forward to welcoming you to the beautiful Estonian capital Tallinn for the 42nd International Congress of the EAPCCT from 24th to 27th May 2022. This will be a fully hybrid congress, so delegates unable to travel can still participate in all the live academic sessions virtually.

Every session will be transmitted live on a virtual platform with the option for questions to be submitted electronically. They will also be recorded for subsequent on-demand viewing so delegates can attend every presentation of both parallel sessions. All posters will be available on the virtual platform too.

Tallinn is a vibrant and enterprising city that sits on the shores of the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland. It has a long and remarkable history as a major trade hub dating from the 13th Century onwards. At the centre of the city is one of the world’s best-preserved medieval cities with its cobbled streets, ancient walls and turrets, old merchant houses, warehouses and various churches still intact. The city was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Yet Tallinn also manages to be a bustling modern city, famous for its progressive outlook and for its leadership in modern technological industries. A major tourist destination with excellent connections Tallinn boasts fascinating museums, art galleries, theatres, great cuisine, hostelry and hospitality whilst the surrounding countryside and seas bring nature very close. It was the European Capital of Culture in 2011. Join us there for some great science and to explore!

We have a great scientific and social programme planned. Most importantly we are aiming to incorporate time and space in the Creative Hub and social event venues for everyone to reconnect face to face after such a long hiatus. We all need it!

The Congress will be held at the Tallinn Kultuurikatel (Tallinn Creative Hub), a thrilling modern venue in a historic space with excellent facilities. The Wednesday welcome reception to be held at the Energiakeskus (Energy Discovery Centre) and the Friday congress dinner will take place at the Lennusadam (Seaplane Harbour), a notable maritime museum. The congress will once again be organised by Grupo Pacifico, our experienced Professional Congress Organisers, whom many of you have met before.

Although there remains uncertainty over international travel, testing, quarantine and distancing rules we will be monitoring the situation regularly and updates will be posted on these pages. Currently you will need to be fully vaccinated against CV-19 to attend physically.

We look forward to seeing you and to welcoming you for four or more days of stimulating company in Tallinn, Estonia.
